Hickory BM Set #22 Lumber - $175 (OREGON)

Woodworkers

These would make a great small rustic kitchen or coffee table.

Hickory - Carya laciniosa (Mill.) K.Koch – Common Names: shellbark hickory, shagbark hickory, bigleaf shagbark hickory, kingnut, big shellbark, bottom shellbark, thick shellbark, western shellbark.

I cut a hickory log into a set of bookmatched slabs that would make a great tabletop. A book matched set creates a unique set of boards which present a mirror image of each other. A book matched set of boards is cut out of the center of the tree, then split down the middle to open up like a book.

I like hickory because it offers one of the widest ranges of colors of native hardwoods – white, brown, red, black, and orange are typically found in hickory lumber. All those colors are in these pieces

Hickory is the hardest native north American hardwood lumber and makes great furniture.

These are cut at 6/4 (1.5” thick). Combined two of the pieces would make a table approximately 27” x 60”.

The set of book matched slabs is $175.
